Finding a Pet

How to search, browse, and connect with breeders on Anumau.

How search works

Start from the home page or browse directly at /litters. You can search by species, breed, and location.

  • Select a species (dogs or cats)
  • Choose a breed from the dropdown — or leave it blank to see all breeds
  • Enter a city, province, or postal code to find litters near you
  • Hit search — results show available litters sorted by distance

Results include both litters with pets available now and upcoming litters you can get on a waitlist for.

Reading a litter listing

Each listing shows you the key details upfront:

  • Available pets: How many are still up for reservation. A sold-out litter may still have a waitlist.
  • Expected date: When puppies or kittens are expected to be ready to go home.
  • Health tier: A badge showing how thoroughly the breeder tests for genetic health — more tests = higher tier.
  • Price: The listed price per pet. Deposits are collected through Anumau to secure your spot.

Breeder profiles

Click a breeder's name or profile link to see their full profile — past litters, reviews from other families, health testing certifications, and how long they've been on Anumau.

Reviews are left by families who completed a purchase through the platform. You can't leave a review without having gone through a transaction.

Contacting a breeder

Once you find a litter you're interested in, use the message button to start a conversation directly with the breeder. From there you can:

  • Ask questions about the litter, parents, health tests, or the breed in general
  • Request photos or videos of specific pets
  • Discuss deposit and pickup arrangements

What if there's nothing available right now?

Breeders often plan litters in advance. You can join a waitlist for a specific breed to be notified when a new litter goes up, or join a specific litter's waitlist if it's full.
